Gallente Federation
The Gallente Federation: where liberty meets opportunity.
The Gallente Federation is one of the five major empires in Eve Online, a democratic republic that values individual liberty and multiculturalism. Its homeworld is situated in the same star system as the Caldari homeworld. The Gallente homeworld was originally settled by descendants of French colonists of Tau Ceti. The Gallente restored themselves to a high-functioning technological society some hundred years before the Caldari, building the first lastingly democratic republic of New Eden in the form of the Gallente Federation.

Lore & Background
The Gallente Federation was originally a democratic republic that included the Caldari as a member race. Cultural animosity between the two peoples spiraled into a war during which the Caldari seceded from the Federation to found their own Caldari State. The war lasted 93 years, with neither nation able to overwhelm the other. The planet Caldari Prime was initially retained by the Gallente Federation during the war, and did not become part of the new Caldari State. A Caldari offensive later managed to recapture their lost homeworld, a fact which was viewed with abhorrence by the Gallente, who saw the presence of a significant Caldari fleet about the planet as a mass hostage taking. After 5 years of Caldari control over Caldari Prime, the Gallente launched their own offensive to retake the planet through the destruction of the Caldari Leviathan-Class Titan Shiigeru. They successfully destroyed Shiigeru, although the planet is now demilitarized and separated into districts split between Caldari and Gallente control. The Gallente Federation is an economy- and trade-oriented nation that favors liberal economic policies, encourages individual entrepreneurship and social democracy, and maintains a progressive approach to social welfare. The Federation's official policies regarding multiculturalism and encouragement of diversity attract many immigrants to Gallente space; a third of all ethnic Minmatars reside as citizens there. Gallente ships are sleek and designed to favor armor plating; they specialize in deploying fleets of robotic drones while mounting hybrid weapons that operate using superconducting magnets to accelerate mass toward targets at great speed.
In Their Own Story
The neon lights of The Citadel flickered against the endless void, casting long shadows over the docking bays where thousands of ships huddled like moths. A young Gallente pilot adjusted her flight suit, watching the massive dreadnoughts of the Navy glide silently past the commercial haulers. She remembered the stories her grandmother told of the War for Independence, how they fought not just for land, but for the right to dream without permission. As she engaged her thrusters, leaving the bustling station behind, the silence of space felt different here—not empty, but full of potential. In this galaxy of empires and tyrants, the Federation remained a stubborn promise that freedom was worth fighting for, even if the cost was paid in blood and steel.
Reader's Guide
The Gallente Federation operates on a philosophy of liberal democracy, prioritizing individual liberty over state control. This ideology permeates their military strategy, favoring agile fleets capable of rapid deployment and electronic disruption over brute force. Their navy is renowned for its mastery of electronic warfare (EW), utilizing advanced scramblers and warheads to disable enemy sensors and weapons before engaging in close-quarters combat.
While the Federation lacks a single charismatic dictator, it is led by a President and a high council that represents the diverse interests of its member systems. Key military leaders often rise from the ranks of elite pilots who have proven their skill in the field rather than through political lineage. The Federation's role in New Eden is dual-faceted: they act as the primary economic hub, facilitating trade for all factions, while simultaneously serving as a counterbalance to the expansionist ambitions of the Amarr Empire and the Caldari Navy.
In the ongoing power struggles of New Eden, the Gallente often find themselves navigating complex diplomatic waters. They maintain uneasy alliances with the Minmatar Republic against common threats but frequently clash with the Caldari over border disputes in high-security space. Their strength lies not just in their ships, but in their ability to attract talent from all corners of the galaxy, creating a diverse and adaptable force that refuses to bow to authoritarian rule.
